Women of a New Tribe

tribe_joyce_pic

Even the brilliant, wealthy, courageous, and historically significant African American women are generally not widely known or celebrated.  The one thing we learn as genealogy enthusiasts is that we all have stories and that these stories are important.  What follows is part of the story of a local African American woman Joyce Moore who after successfully raising a family is now is striving to help make our lives better.  In 2011, she co-founded Urban Patch, a social enterprise with a single goal: to make the Indianapolis inner city better. In addition to teaching Hoosiers of all colors how to grow vegetables in their own gardens and preserve healthy food for their families.

Joyce was recently honored by Women of a New Tribe to celebrate her efforts and to affirm her story.  Please be thinking of women you know to celebrate using programs such as the Women of a New Tribe and other many others so their stories can be shared with the world.
