Reunion T-Shirts for the Cole-Brown 2016 Reunion in St. Louis

For our reunion (the first one ever for the Cole-Brown family), no one wanted to do shirts for everyone, so we decided to have each branch design and print their own shirts. Well here's how things ended up: The shirt design has the skyline of the host city on the front of the shirt, and the back is a sepia tone photo of my parents and a descendants chart, along with a QR code to our family website. Originally we wanted to have a photo of my mother and her five sisters on the front of the shirt, but unfortunately, the only photo we have is not in good enough shape to reproduce on a shirt (preserve your photos...), so we went with the St. Louis skyline.

During the month of April, I'd ask random people if they could recommend a good t- shirt vendor; no real answers (several people used to bowl with a guy who does shirts though :-) ).

In late April, I called a tee shirt shop in Broadripple, they no longer do reunion shirts but they gave me the names of two good shops.  Meanwhile, I continued to search on Google.  I found a place located three blocks from where I grew up.  So I contacted that shop as well.  I wanted to avoid the Internet sites (I’d heard bad things); I needed a place where I could go to talk to somebody.  Both of the places recommended by the shop in Broadripple were very responsive via email, not so much by phone or in person.  It turns out that the shop located in the neighborhood where I grew up was able to match the price quality and speed of the other local vendors I evaluated (Please contact me if you want names).  The vendor I decided to go with does not have the best website and their pricing quote was not as straight forward as the others, but they arrived at the same price as the other vendors.

My mom and dad met at Tennessee State University; she was from western Tennessee, and he was from middle Tennessee.  They may have never met, if my grandparents had not sent her to St. Louis to go to high school (Vashon), as there were no high schools for Blacks in their west Tennessee town.  To find out more about the Moore's and their descendants, click this link.

Tell us about your family reunion experiences, or resources you have used.  Reunions are a good source of "offline" information.
